What's the logic for *not* having the Nadal and Kyrgios-Karlovic matches start the day? I feel like we've seen this kind of thing many times before - players who have fallen a day behind in the schedule because of weather or other issues always seem to play second, not first, on the following day. There must be a reason.

Because they were asked to hang around until past 11 PM and putting them up on court for the first match of the day is too early.

I'm not sure if they even ask the players each time; it appears to just be the standard.

Nadal and Kyrgios are getting recovery time anyway since they play the late match. I feel for Pliskova who had a 3-set match in the early afternoon and only a few hours later has to turn around and play Wozniacki who hasn't yet played today.

Post-Roland Garros Nadal has looked like the Nadal of the past few years, not the Nadal of 2015. He gets so tight and tentative against guys with a big serve. I don't understand why he stands so far back on a hard court. I swear when he was dominating tennis he was standing around the baseline to return, no?

Is anybody going to the US Open this year? I just got tickets for day and night sessions on Arthur Ashe on the first Saturday.

Also, I'm kinda rooting for Zvonareva to come through qualifying. (She's up a set and 3-1 at the moment.) I remember seeing her in Charleston being a total bitch to her hitting partner while practicing on center court and, for some reason, that endeared her to me. (Ciski was there, too. So, he may bring a different opinion to that perspective. Also, I remember the Bondarenko sisters both being in qualifying and smelling really nice... which also endeared them to me.)
