Raducanu played Fernandez like I would have expected Osaka or Sabalenka to play her. She reminds me of Li Na, too.

Raducanu has a US Open title but hasn't won a WTA tour match or played on clay. Wild!

I have to believe that Raducanu winning a Slam in such dominant and absurd fashion means she has arrived but...yeah. If she didn't win another match for the rest of the year it would make just as much sense.

It's not to discredit Raducanu as she did what she needed to do and held her composure, but the only top 10 player she beat along the way is Bencic. My point in mentioning that is to say this run doesn't necessarily give an indication of how she stacks up against Barty, Sabalenka, etc. (especially now that she'll have pressure on her).

In the past few years we've seen Ostapenko, Kenin, Andreecsu, and Swiatek win surprise majors at a young age and recede soon after (though Swiatek has had a solid year).

Well this shows why "calendar year grand slam" is a thing. Credit to Medvedev, but Djokovic definitely played like the pressure got to him. Serena, Djokovic, and Tiger in golf have all held the 4 majors at one time but not won the CYGS.

Other than the Donald Young incident, is there anything else we hold against him? I'm very surprised that incident has not really been held against him - even the most liberal tennis commentators seem to like Medvedev and never bring it up.

I want to like Medvedev because he has a wicked sense of humor, but that incident still bothers me.

I want to like Medvedev because he has a wicked sense of humor, but that incident still bothers me.

His general on court behavior isn't always the best; throwing a coin at an umpire, kicking a camera, hitting an ump chair with his racket, snatching a towel from a ball kid and flipping the bird to the ump that resulted in the crowd booing him and then him taunting them back, etc.
