1) This seems a bit tone-deaf. Again, most assume she took meldonium to take advantage of its side effects rather than to cure an actual affliction, as in, she took a drug she didn't need for 10 years maliciously, banned or not. That's what ultimately casts a huge shadow on her results.

2) I specifically posted the second quote to explain why her colleagues have basically shown no solidarity. You reap what you sow.

I understand that, but also feel you wouldn't post that if they said it about a player you like. Either way, it shouldn't have a bearing on the case itself to me. Sharapova took a banned substance this year. That seems pretty cut and dry.

It's not the same thing. You take protein shakes and supplements to take advantage of their intended purpose. People are alleging that she didn't take meldonium to take advantage of its intended purpose, but to exploit its side effects. The intent behind it is malicious and dishonest, and that's what people are holding against her...regardless of the fact that the drug was not on the banned list. There's a huge difference there.

Also, you "feel" wrong. What I think about Sharapova bears no relevance. There has been a lot of talk about the other players showing no solidarity, and I was specifically posting reasoning straight from the horse's mouth.
