I remember watching the scene where Elle is at the fast food restaurant and this lady just dumps her food in Elle's lap. I thought 'What the hell was that?' Once her traumatic childhood is revealed, it becomes clear that she only trusts a handful of people and with good reason. I get the varying reactions toward the film though. I liked that she was a character with complete agency over her actions and decisions. (I also think Huppert should have won.) |
