Grande may be the least of his worries. Ehrlich is fucked if Hip-Hop decides the Grammys aren't worth their time. Gambino nor Kendrick are wanting to perform and Drake stop attending years ago. Jay-Z has been vocal about the snubs, "Tell the Grammys fuck that 0 for 8 shit." Rappers are feeling the slight. Nominations are great, but no rap album has won AOTY in 16 years. That's absurd.

Smokey Robinson defends Jennifer Lopez leading the Motown tribute.
https://twitter.com/Variety/status/1094443662405029888 We're getting highlights the day after on some random music video TV channel in the UK so... <shrugs>. The tide seems to be shifting towards Kacey Musgraves in winning Album of the Year. HER looks good to get Best New Artist and fend off the likes of Dua Lipa and Bebe Rexha. I'm not too sure "Shallow" can do the Record of the Year/Song of the Year win double as most over at GoldDerby think will happen but if it happens, it won't stop criticism that hip-hop gets no love in the General Field. |

Huh. Ariana Grande does win Best Pop Vocal Album after all. No hard feelings then eh, Ken?
No idea what the list of televised awards were but I assume after Ariana's no show meant that this wasn't high on the list. |

I think "This is America" is a success due to its visuals more than its songcraft, but that is a landmark win in SOTY so I'm happy about it.

One for the notebooks of history is that Donald wasn't there in person to collect it but in the grand scheme of things, who will remember that fact!?
Am glad I didn't go steaming in on "Shallow" as it was a prohibitive betting favourite to win Song of the Year. New York Times quick to react with hip-hop not doing well at the Grammys historically though. https://twitter.com/nytimes/status/10947...37376?s=19 |

Alicia Keys has perhaps discovered she's an alto, but she still struggles with pitch.

Wow, "TIA" won ROTY, too. I don't think anyone saw this coming. Interesting.

RE: 2017 Grammys thread (held in 2018)
I gave up looking for results at around 3:30am but here I am at 7:30am up and getting ready on a Monday morning...I should have gone to bed.
Donald Glover carves a little piece of Grammys history for himself with wins in both Record and Song. Wow.I agree with mv in that the music video and the "Call Me Maybe" pastiche probably helped soften the appeal for what feels a slightly political vote. You can't say those voting were "Shallow"...no song from a movie has won in the General Field since "My Heart Will Go On". For once, my insistence of the country music bloc had to get behind a nominee finally sort of happens after I keep putting it out in the past few years that it's supposed to happen what with Kacey Musgraves pulling out a win in Album of the Year. She seemingly had a 'could not be denied' appeal about it. Am flummoxed by what support Dua Lipa had to win Best New Artist. I was fooled by the Album of the Year nomination for H.E.R. but Dua Lipa has some record on a strwamijg servuce or something like that. Am kind of pleased for her but not really...would have been more p3lased for her if I had predicted it! |

My vote would've still gone to Janelle (that performance!) but Kacey might still be in my top 10 Album of the Year winners ever. Definitely the best since Adele's 21 for me.

WONDERFUL Grammys! The best I have seen in a long time. Really glad that "This Is America" took Record and Song for many different reasons, and all performances were great except Katy Perry and Post Fucking Malone. ugggggggh
