This was probably Emilia Clark's best performance - though all the performances were quite strong. I agree that Daenery's arc had stalled and this was a terrific way to redirect it.

dug, I'm interested in why you think Cersei is more than capable of running things. She raised a sociopath. She seems utterly divorced from the needs of her people and openly despises the one person who probably could have ruled well, if behind the scenes. Her open hatred of the Tyrell family certainly isn't politically expedient. I don't find her as interesting as you, though.

True about Cersei. I feel that she maybe has more political savvy to actually pull through and be a stronger leader. But, as you said, she tends to put the needs of herself (and her family) before that of the people of King's Landing. And her rather obvious manipulations are not going to do her any favors. She needs to work more of her magic behind the scenes, at this point, with the realm in flux.

Wheareas, while Daenerys seems to be more idealistic in how she wants to rule her people and kingdom, she doesn't seem to actually possess much skill in implementing many of her ideas. Tonight's execution, while adhering to a standard she wants to set of equality, was an amazingly misjudged action that completely turned her from their "mother", into someone they are openly seething (quite literally) at. But I am liking this new direction for the character, I hope they explore it more this season. Also, not sure it's such a good idea to live in a pyramid above her people like she does.

Also, I thought they moved Jon Snow's story along nicely as well. It's nice to see that the character will maybe be a bit more "take charge" than before, although I am still not a huge fan of that group of characters up on the Wall, really.

Superb. Seriously, this show is beginning to fire on all cylinders. The acting from basically everyone was terrific. The directing was inspired and the screenplay particularly adroit. Man, that hour flew by.

Met a friend of a friend today who looks like an IRL Khal Drogo. Hair, body, and face! Needless to say I'm going to be on him like Ned Stark's head on a pike.

Stunning episode of a great show that is really hitting it's stride. The Unsullied vs Sons of the Harpy was a staggeringly well directed scene. This season is magnificent thus far.

Yeah, the run of episodes the show is currently on is its strongest ever.

The acting is across the board stunning. That smirk Sophie Turner gives at the revelation of the Bolton's pregnancy. Stephen Dillane's witty gravity ("fewer"). Kit Harrington is really coming into his own. As is Emilia Clarke - she's just owning her scenes.

Jeremy Podeswa really should be considered for an emmy for directing. Goddamn the show was beautiful. The scene in Valyria. Any scene with a dragon. The golden hour ending.

Caught up with the season, and the past three episodes have all been very strong. A lot of the actors are getting great stuff this season, although I agree that Harrington is really coming into his own. I'm actually interested in what his character is doing this season. I also agree that Clarke is doing a great job, now that she's been given something more substantial to work with.

That fight in last week's episode was terrific, really intense.

Also, can I take back my opinion on thinking Cersei would be good at running things? Because she's clearly.....not. Haha. Her siding with the religious extremists is a terrible decision - she's only thinking very, very, very short-term there.

Looking forward to seeing where the season goes!

Digressive first half, but the 2nd half more than makes up for it. Cersei is going to fall hard, isn't she?
