Oscar Dinner
I don't usually do Oscar parties but this thread has always been fun. What should you serve now that we know the Best Picture nominees?
The Big Short = ??? Bridge of Spies = gum maybe? Brooklyn = pasta or something Irish like corned beef and cabbage. Mad Max: Fury Road = water The Martian = POTATOES! The Revenant = Bison (or buffalo meat or any game meat, really) Room = birthday cake Spotlight = Communion wafers |

RE: Oscar Dinner
The Big Short can be Anthony Bourdain's fish stew.

RE: Oscar Dinner
Brooklyn you could also do spaghetti.
I'm not sure on Lennox's reference but for The Big Short you could also do champagne aka "bubbly." |

RE: Oscar Dinner
In The Big Short Bourdain explains what CDO's (collateralized debt obligations) are by using three-day old fish as an analogy. You cook old fish as a stew and people will buy it.

RE: Oscar Dinner
It could just be regular milk, you know. That cow was someone's mother.

RE: Oscar Dinner
Okay. Time to do this:
Arrival = calamari Fences = ??? Hacksaw Ridge = ??? Hell or High Water = T-bone steak! (either no green beans or no corn-on-the-cob). Hidden Figures = Tang, maybe? Lion = curry flavored shrimp on a barbie OR naan and vegemite. La La Land = iced coffees (or a burnt souffle). Chicken on a stick would also work. Manchester by the Sea = clam chowder Moonlight = black beans and rice |
