RE: Golden Globes, SAG, etc.....
I was truly convinced Kate McKinnon would've showed up at both SAG and the Globes.

A little surprised that This Is Us--popular, and a definite ensemble piece--didn't get in the ensemble category. But there were several shows contending for a few spots. Overall the nominees are fairly solid, although I have to say that John Lithgow's performance in The Crown never once struck me as great, must-be-awarded work. But the nomination wasn't a surprise.

I was rooting for Rachel Bloom to repeat, but Tracee Ellis Ross is fantastic on Black-ish. It's cool to see her win, especially because she doesn't always get the "showy" character on that show. If you haven't seen the episode "Being Bow-racial", you should watch - one of the best things television has produced this season.

Hmmm. A good night for the British (!?) so far as Hugh Laurie and Olivia Colman cause upsets winning in the supporting acting categories. Only Claire Foy & Tom Hiddleston left I think to make it a 'clean sweep' for eligible British talent in acting races in both film & TV.

I'm so thrilled for Olivia. Was she there to accept?

No, she wasn't. No idea who accepted but I'd guess Hugh Laurie.
A complete blackout for British based viewers and I don't think we even get 'next day highlights' either. Am 'watching' on Twitter as per usual with these things. |

I thought Ryder would take it. |

RE: Golden Globes, SAG, etc.....
They do love their 'names' but not this time. I've never been jingoistic about British success at awards shows (am usually more surprised when a Brit wins to be honest) AND it's only the Golden Globes after all.
Am surprised by the wins even though Claire Foy and Tom Hiddleston were betting favourites. Hugh Laurie (third favourite behind John Lithgow and Stirling K. Brown) and Olivia Colman (stone cold last) definitely weren't betting favourites. The presentation order of these awards are a bit bizarre. |

Happy for Donald Glover and Atlanta. Perplexed by the wins for The Crown and The Night Manager, which sucked.

Surprised by your reaction to The Crown, mainly because I've only heard/read good things. I still haven't watched it.
I thought they'd anoint Stranger Things, since it would make them look "cool". |
