I just binged all three seasons. I loved the first two, but I absolutely hated the third season: the horrifically conceived character of Blum and the utterly god-fucking-AWFUL performance by Sheen just totally ruined the season. I loved the rage of the first two seasons, but they just fell off the rails in the third season, and nothing felt grounded in any sort of reality.

They also did a complete reversal with Maia, and it felt completely unjustified – the very definition of writing the character to fit the story (I just don't think they knew what to do with her) – because there is no way the Maia of the first two seasons would've ever become an acolyte of that cartoon villain. Plus, they torpedoed the wonderful friendships she had with Lucca and Marissa in the process. Whatever, if this is what they've decided Maia is, then good fucking riddance, and I never want to see her or Cthulhu ever again unless it's to see them killed in a car bomb or something.

Christine Baranski, Audra McDonald, Cush Jumbo, and Delroy Lindo have all been spectacular, but I can't do this bullshit anymore unless they course-correct immediately.

Yeah, Blum was ridiculous. On a rewatch, I could completely see Maia's turn as a big writing mistake. For me she always felt like the weak link, so I guess I didn't care that much when they turned on her character in such an ugly way. Diane and Lucca have always had the story lines that brought me back.

I did like the Diane/Liz story for Season 3, but Season 2 was just so damn good that I probably forgave too much of the season. I'm so glad Blum is gone and I'm excited for the next season. Unhinged Diane needs to make a return.

During Sheen's very first scene, I was like...




And the motherfucker just. kept. fucking. HOLLERING, and within thirty seconds, it made no sense within the world of this show, even with its quirky judges, that this banshee wouldn't have been summarily disbarred during his very first trial. Like, noooooo sense whatsoever.




I, of course, quickly realized he was going to be a season-long plague on the show and had to go into a fugue state during every subsequent scene to make it through. If season four is even remotely as untethered,




Point of Information, your Honor: So, the actor who played Rachelle? That's Kate Shindle, and I went to college with her. She was a junior when I was a freshman, and we worked on the costume run crew of the fall musical (Once on This Island, which was supposed to be the grand showcase for Heather Headley in her senior year, but she'd left school over the summer to understudy Queen Audra McDonald in Ragtime – #italltiestogether – and then, of course, originated the roles of Nala and Aida and won a Tony for the latter). Anyway, Kate was very cool, and THEN she won friggin' Miss America the following September the night before I went back to school for sophomore year! She ended up returning for her senior year after she passed on the crown and graduated a year ahead of me. It's very cool to see her in such a high-profile project.

Well that's how you kick off a season! I have to admit, I lost a little steam on the show after Season 3, but that kick off and the preview look absolutely bananas. I'm here for it.

I’ve seen the first three episodes- did they basically kill the storyline that they ended Season 3 with? I mean it seemed like they resumed it at the end of episode 1, but then they picked up the action 9 months later and it just seemed like Diane went on a vacation during that time. What’d I miss?

Oops just saw this thread. I just started the season 2 premiere and apparently Julius still works there? In the season 1 episode where Louis Gossett Jr guest starred, a plot point was centered on whether Julius got a vote because he had resigned. Now he’s still working there? Is this explained, or is it a retcon of some sort?

It's interesting because The Good Wife excelled in its court cases and office politics but sometimes floundered on actual politics, but The Good Fight thrives on actual politics and sometimes flounders on court cases (more so I rarely care about the cases).
