Culturish Website - Call for Contributions

Since we've renewed the domain and host, one thing that's been discussed is re-activating the main page. As many of you may know, the front page of culturish.com has been dormant since early 2015.

We're still in the early stages of this process, and we haven't laid out specifics of what type of content we'll feature, but in general you can probably guess it'll be the same things that drew us here in the first place: Movies, TV, Music, Theater, Books. I don't make any claims that we'll be able to comprehensively cover all of those areas, especially not in the early stages of the re-launch, but the more diverse content we have, the better we can do at reaching more people, and maybe attracting more people to the forums.

So this is where you guys come in: We're going to need content. Specifically non-movie content. (Although movie-related content will not automatically be turned away.) I can do movies, I can even do TV to an extent, but I can't string together two interesting sentences about music. I never go the theater, because there's not one around here. Unless you want someone to review the Aubry-Maturin series, I'm no good on books either. So if you have any interest, let me know. Shoot me a PM. Hit me up on Facebook. Eventually I'd like to look into some other things--podcasting, for examples. We'll be looking for contributors and participants there as well, so if you don't feel comfortable writing, but would be comfortable talking, we may still call on your services.

Hey dws, thanks for taking the lead on this! Are we trying to position ourselves as curators of original content, or are we also trying to get into the (albeit somewhat oversaturated) predictions market? Should we be setting up a panel of experts doing predix ahead of every major announcement, etc? Granted, I also don't know what technology we need for that in terms of having the templates to track something like that.

Just throwing a hat in the ring...I think anniversaries of things usually do well (20th anniversary of "Titanic," etc.)

I would say that we would lean more towards original content. Awards coverage could definitely be part of it (I've started work on some Emmy discussions, looking for some participants), but more on the level of using the awards to talk about movies or TV shows involved, rather than simply saying, "this will win, this should win".

And yes, the idea of doing retrospectives is a VERY good idea, especially something that was as huge as Titanic. Come to think of it, one of my favorite TV shows, Picket Fences, turns 25 this year...

I'm setting up a Google Drive folder for sharing things back-and-forth. Also for things like the Emmy discussion that I mentioned, we can share the Doc and make it editable so everyone can contribute easily.
