RE: Official "Will & Grace" Thread
Ratings for premiere adjusted to 14.8 million with delayed viewing. That's...incredible.

RE: Official "Will & Grace" Thread
Whoooooa. So this was WAY different than what I saw filmed!
The filming started with a full scene at the Cockpit with Will, Grace, and Jack. Grace has a line about how the Cockpit has really upped its game since the '90s when they didn't have a ladies room and she had to pee outside in the street next to some cokeheads. Will then had several punchilnes (they filmed each scene three times) including, "And now he's Vice-President!" and "And now he's Speaker of the House!" We then see Ben Platt come on to Will, and Jack yells, "Dear Evan Hansen! Will's a DILF!" I thought that backstory - actually seeing "the incident" - made it much easier to follow. The scene with Will and Ben Platt in the apartment was also a lot longer and had a lot more millennial jokes, but I could see that got cut for time. They didn't film the ladies in the shower before a live audience because of the costumes getting soaked but they did replay the final take for us to record laughter. KoMut came onto the set and said it was blatantly inspired by the "Lucy Show" bit (which is honestly identical). |

RE: Official "Will & Grace" Thread
So...episode two.
This is the "Will & Grace" I know and love. This is the show that has characters who are not just one-dimensional and with actors who are on top of their A-game. This was the best episode since "Last Ex to Brooklyn." Platt was hilarious (and he is so hot). I loved Will's lecturing of gay history because that is totally a real thing with a lot of gay guys under 30. Like...no joke. Hayes was hilarious with his bits. God damn, Mullally and Messing together is just heaven. I loved how obvious that was as a throwback to the "Lucy Show" shower scene. Such hilarity. MUCH better than the premiere. This has me excited. What are the Emmy chances? |

"In the words of my dear friend Amanda Bynes, where am I"
"It's strawberry ice-cream but I'm using chicken satay as the spoon" "Listening to my transist...walkm...iPod Shuffle!" I died. |

RE: Official "Will & Grace" Thread
It's back. I thought last week might be a fluke and get my hopes up like with "Last Ex," but it's back.
I think the thing that is so great is that they are no longer just simple one-dimensional characters and cartoons that they were written into in the final three seasons of the show. I loved all of the lines you mentioned, but my favorite was Grace with her deep Southern "Naw-lens" bit. That had me in stitches. And Messing and Connick, Jr. had a great moment at the end with both acting it very well. The highlight was Megan Mullally. This Karen reminded me of when Jack forced her and Elliot to stay in the game room in season 4 to make them like each other. I just loved how human Karen was in this episode, and Mullally nailed it. Knocked it out of the park. I am so happy. |

RE: Official "Will & Grace" Thread
So far I’m liking the reboot a lot more than the original run. Even back then, once I accepted that this show is basically a live-action cartoon I started liking it a lot more. While that aspect hasn’t changed much this show managed to surprise me with last night’s episode. Karen’s subplot aside, I particularly liked sedated Grace’s reaction to finding out she’s at risk for cancer (“I’m taking this very well. Why am I taking this so well?”). It was refreshingly understated and was a nice set up for when she does have a goofy breakdown to Will. There was some genuine pathos going on here, which I’m not used to on this show.

RE: Official "Will & Grace" Thread
Had Mutchnick and Kohan not been forcibly removed from the show after season 4, this is the sort of quality we could've expected from the last 3 seasons of the show. It's a shame. But I'm so happy it's back and even happier it's so good.

RE: Official "Will & Grace" Thread
Jesus!! "Grandpa Jack" gave Sean Hayes and Eric McCormack some damn great moments. I wasn't a big fan of the Grace storyline, but Messing and Mullally sold it. Messing sang. I mean, come on! Mullally had great one-liners. It was all about Hayes, though. This would be a FANTASTIC submission if he gets back in.
This show is bringing me some amazing humor in a very dark and scary time. I am impressed that the writers are giving each actor a main storyline each week. They are killing it! |
