RE: 2017/2018 Emmys
The presentation of the nominees and then the presenters was really odd, and I didn’t get it. At first I thought it was there way of being efficient and they’d have the presenters walk out during the time the ‘clips’ were being shown, but nope. It was just strange.
Dinklage’s win was just so rote. This was a weak season for his character. |

RE: 2017/2018 Emmys
I don't really think most voters (have time to) watch all the nominees' tapes, so they just sort of vote for what they do watch or do like or heard was worthy or whatever, like in those EW voter snippets MV posted a few days ago. I'm the only SAG voter I know who makes a point of watching all the film nominees, but I don't watch all the TV nominees (mostly because I think a lot of the TV nominees are stupid).
In the cold light of day, I'm most annoyed with Claire Foy's win (I wanted Keri Russell to win so badly, and The Crown just looks so boring, but maybe I should sack up and give it a watch) and all the Maisel wins (like, I realllllllly don't get the love for Borstein). |

By the way, another show that was snubbed last night - American Vandal. I only just started Season 2, but will continue to advocate for Season 1. There's so much more more to it than you'd think. Yes it's funny, but it's not just crassly funny, and it's also thrilling and at times surprisingly poignant. It's an easy and very worthwhile binge. To me, it's the most underrated show on TV in years.

Elizabeth will go down as one of the finest creations ever. I still haven't finished Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and I probably won't because it's insufferable. It winning all these awards has me lowkey upset. Borstein is abysmal. AS-P owned that directing Emmy tho. I won't lie. It's gross Tituss hasn't won yet. |

The buzz is gone, so he'll go the way of Neil Patrick Harris, Vanessa Williams, Christina Baranski, etc in continual Supporting noms for a show but no win. |

RE: 2017/2018 Emmys
Truly the worst Emmys I've seen. The lack of reaction shots made it painful.
Jost and Che were absolutely shit too. Maya Rudolph and Fred Armisen were at their worst. Hannah Gadsby was as disappointing as I expected. Positives? John Mulaney was marvellous in his special (as I've said before) - one of my favourite pieces of entertainment ever. Regina King's shock as she won her third Emmy in a row. Alex Borstein who by the end of Maisel was superb in her growth. Thandie Newton. How immediately the roars came in for Glenn Weiss. |
