RE: Grammy Awards 2020
I'd guess it's between Lana Del Rey, Lizzo and Billie Eilish, personally. The last two really dominated the conversation this year and Del Rey's album feels like the critics' pick (but I may be wrong there - always a bit our of my depth on critical response to music).

Del Rey didn’t even get a genre nod did she? She’s like Lorde a few years ago.

That no-genre nod is so weird but yeah it also happened to Sara Bareilles. I feel like it's happened to others too.
I dont care for Lizzo but the idea of these people winning AOTY before Beyonce is a bit annoying. As I'm sure the constant reminder of Beyonce not having won AOTY is annoying. |

RE: Grammy Awards 2020
I agree there are others I can't off the top of my head remember who because Beyonce is the only one I listen to from whatever group of people who haven't won. I'm sure if other names were thrown in I'd agree/understand - if they had the album to justify the win rather than a body of work. With Beyonce at least I know of the three occasions where she had the album to do it. But yeah not limited to her just can't name the others.

RE: Grammy Awards 2020
Interesting, but unsurprising, allegations coming out regarding the Grammy’s.

RE: Grammy Awards 2020
I haven’t read it all, but apparently someone who got in Song last year was on the nominating board as was his/her rep?!?!

RE: Grammy Awards 2020
Yep.
Quote:Making matters worse, the Board can and has taken artists who are up for a nomination and placed them on the voting committee. According to Dugan’s complaint, this led an unidentified artist getting a 2019 Song of the Year nomination despite coming in at 18 on the 20-name list. Not only was this artist on the Song of the Year committee, they had a representative on the Board. Their Song of the Year nod took away possible recognition from Ed Sheeran and Ariana Grande, whom the voting memberships had ranked higher. |

RE: Grammy Awards 2020
The top 20 thing is nothing new and frankly not a problem to me. That potentially helps someone like Brandi Carlisle get in. The issue is being able to place artists on the committee, and them having reps on it.

RE: Grammy Awards 2020
Lizzo definitely gave another top notch performance, but Demi Lovato just stole the night for me. Powerful.
