Oscars 2023
I thought I'd kick this off by doing NOT nominees predictions but predictions on what will happen NEXT awards season. Let's see if any of these will come true:
01. The Academy leadership will be overhauled and will be under new management who can stand up to ABC. There will also be a new producer and a host that will be announced before the end of the year. 02. Brendan Fraser will be an Oscar front-runner. (You heard it here first!) 03. The Batman will get nominated for Best Picture....but people will STILL complain and still accuse the Academy of being elitist. 04. Michelle Yeoh will do VERY well in the precursors for Everything, Everywhere All At Once. She'll get a Globe nod, a SAG nod and a number of critics awards. But she'll be snubbed on Oscar morning, pissing off everyone. 05. There will be TWO non-English language films in the Best Picture race. One or both of them won a prize in Cannes. 06. Netflix will get THREE Best Picture nominees in...but may still lose. 07. The Best Actress winner will be someone non-white. 08. One of these scenarios will happen in the Best Director race, I feel: Three women will be nominated but a man will still win. Or no woman will be nominated causing another outcry. #OscarsSoMale 09. Avatar 2 will either be a Best Picture front-runner or get snubbed entirely. No middle ground. 10. An animated film and a documentary will contend for a spot in Best Picture. |

RE: Oscars 2023
Who will be the next "The Help" cast member to get an Oscar or get another one? TFE did an article on this, and I found it highly interesting. From TFE...
Quote:Six of The Help's cast members have received Oscars in the 11 years since its release I say that Bryce Dallas Howard will happen next. |

RE: Oscars 2023
I am asking this in all seriousness, though it might seem like a joke.
Can Valérie Lemercier, for "Aline," last until next awards season and get nominated in Lead Actress. It honestly would not surprise me. |

RE: Oscars 2023
Who do you guys think will/should be getting Honorary Oscars next year? Some ideas....
ACTORS: James Caan Leslie Caron Claudia Cardinale Glenn Close (perhaps a lot of them think she could still win a competitive and hold off on this) Alain Delon Catherine Deneuve Gerard Depardieu Harrison Ford Tippi Hedren James Hong Glynis Johns Fernanda Montenegro Tatsuya Nakadai Kim Novak Arnold Schwarzenegger Sylvester Stallone Russ Tamblyn Jean-Louis Trintignant Dick Van Dyke Bruce Willis (especially after his diagnosis) DIRECTORS: Kenneth Anger Ralph Bakshi Don Bluth John Carpenter David Cronenberg (but then again there's Crimes of the Future) Brian De Palma Claire Denis (still active and has a film out this year) Peter Greenaway Michael Haneke Werner Herzog Takeshi Kitano Mike Leigh Ridley Scott (apology for that Last Duel joke) Bela Tarr Gus van Sant John Waters Peter Weir Wong Kar-wai (youngish enough to might still be able to win a competitive one) John Woo Zhang Yimou PRODUCERS & ARTISANS: Caleb Deschanel Kevin Feige (possible Thalberg recipient) Tak Fujimoto |

RE: Oscars 2023
Catherine Deneuve and Amitabh Bachchan are as titanic as it gets in international cinema and I'd like to think they'll be in line for honorary oscars soon.
I feel like Mike Leigh has to have one coming imminently too. |
