RE: Madonna
Making my way through the album (starting with on track ten, as I have had the other nine for a while now).
"HeartBreakCity" is.... pretty awesome. I think "Body Shop" is an interesting sound for her, and I am looking forward to listening to that one again (no repeats on the first time around!) and "Holy Water" is another one I enjoyed, even if it's a little silly ("Bitch, get off my pole!" Haha). I wasn't expecting the "Express Yourself" sample either. |

RE: Madonna
"Wash All Over Me"......oh my god..... love it. So. Much.
So far, I am a bit surprised by how "subdued" the album sounds. A lot more laid back than I was expecting. I'm really liking this sound on her. |

RE: Madonna
"Subdued" is a good word. After the initial six-track release, I expected more upbeat Diplo tracks like "Living for Love," "Unapologetic Bitch" and "Bitch I'm Madonna." Go figure, the Kanye production on "Illuminati" was more representative of the rest of the album.

RE: Madonna
'Wash All Over Me' was a full-on EDM track until about a month ago. I love that version, but I also love what she did on the one that was actually released. I get that the main criticism is that there are no tracks that you can dance to, but in the current, over-saturated EDM landscape, I also get why she decided to go with something completely different.
I think 'Inside Out' is my favorite track. |

RE: Madonna
I don't think it's bad that there are a lack of dance tracks. I like that she's doing something a little different. Fans who want that, though, are probably going to be pretty disappointed with this album.
And interesting about "Wash All Over Me". |

RE: Madonna
Not sure if this was posted, but interesting read. Billboard ranked Madonna's albums from Worst to Best. They don't really say any album is bad, either, just that if they had to rank some are inevitably going to be towards the bottom of the list.

RE: Madonna
To be clear, I actually like that it's not another dance album. While I love Madonna's dance music, I'm glad to see her finally (really) showing other sides to herself for more than a couple of tracks on this album.
Also, I wasn't a huge fan of "Wash All Over Me" as a dance track. I like what Kanye did by stripping it down. |

I keep reading how people hate MDNA, apparently, which doesn't seem to really gel with its general reception when it was released? Where did it all of that come from? I wouldn't rank it as her best, but I think it's really strong work. (Not really aimed at the Billboard article, but in general). I was also expecting American Life to be ranked last when I'd consider that her best album (either that or Confessions on a Dance Floor). I've never fallen in with the general perception that Ray of Light is her best. I think Music and American Life both take what she did on Ray of Light and made it even better. |

RE: Madonna
Yeah, it's interesting. I have a soft spot for Bedtime Stories and I love the singles off of True Blue (which out of 9 songs was 5 of them) and Where's the Party is a good non-single, but White Heat and Jimmy Jimmy were meh.
