RE: Precursor Awards (2022-2023)
Fabelmans won TIFF. I could very well see a scenario where Spielberg wins Director and EEAAO still takes Picture.

The Gotham Award nominees
I haven't seen Women Talking yet but their other top nominated films are my top three films of the year so far, so I'm thrilled. I hope the A24 train keeps rolling into other award shows. |

The Spirit nominations are in.
Everything Everywhere All at Once leads, followed by TAR, Aftersun and Women Talking. All films in my personal top five for the year. |

RE: Precursor Awards (2022-2023)
I don't like the gender neutral categories. It just doesn't work.
BUT! It helped Regina Hall get in and I'm stoked! |

RE: Precursor Awards (2022-2023)
As a gender-neutral person I appreciate them, but two winners instead of 4 does not work for me.
Interesting to see what's gonna happen in Best Actress. 'Tár' and 'Till' both flopped, 'Babylon' seems like a non-starter, Colman didn't catch on, Williams got very polarizing reviews and put herself in the wrong category anyway, Ackie is a bit of a question mark, and then there's a bunch of long shots. This leaves us with Yeoh as the safest bet at this point? |

RE: Precursor Awards (2022-2023)
It feels like Blanchett vs. the Michelles at this point to me. I don't think box office is going to be the main factor this year - too many films not doing well. Blanchett currently feels like the one to beat, but if EEAAO leads the nomination count (which is possible), I might switch to Yeoh.
I'm not going to be all that surprised if they throw Williams in Supporting, where she will win easily without competition as frontrunner. But I need to see if there are any indicators before just assuming they'll do it. Her performance is definitely polarizing but if she lands in Actress, she'll be a major threat to win. |
