RE: Oscars 2024
Mel Brooks is 97 and won an Oscar back in 1969 and is only just now getting this award. Peter Weir and Diane Warren were recipients this past time; Weir got his first Oscar nomination in 1982, and Warren got her first in 1987 and was writing for movies before that time. Bassett's first notable role was in Boyz N The Hood, no? I can see it coming across as Bassett getting it is more a make up for this past ceremony. That is separate from whether or not she's deserving (she absolutely is).
More so, if Bassett had won the Oscar earlier this year, do people think she'd be getting this award now? I wonder where Jamie Lee Curtis then fits in that scenario (also note Curtis hasn't gotten this award and she and Bassett are about the same age, and Curtis started in film long before Bassett). |

RE: Oscars 2024
I think Bening is on track to win the Oscar this next year. The trailer for "Nyad" looks great, and she looks amazing in it. Does Hilary Swank have any movies coming out this year? LOL

Which has stopped absolutely no one lately from winning an Oscar, of course. |

Even if Barbie as a brand has existed for decades, the characters in the film are mostly original apart from some specific things. I don't know why anyone would see it as an adapted screenplay, though I know there is a rule about existing characters or whatever. |

RE: Oscars 2024
Adjust your predictions once more: Lily Gladstone will be campaigned as a LEAD actress. She would've won far more easily in Supporting but I think she has a better chance to win than Michelle Williams did.
