What Did You Watch Today?
Do we not have one of these threads yet? I didn't see one, but it's possible I overlooked it.
Anyway, I caught up on both seasons of Broad City and it is so, so good. Seriously. Hilarious. If you are not watching, you really should be. |

RE: What Did You Watch Today?
How to Get Away with Murder -
I know Shonda didn't create the show, but it is curious that her last two shows both center around a lot of murderers (everyone on scandal, nearly everyone on this show). There's really not a compelling character beyond Annalise. I like Bonnie (and Liza Weil with nary a trace of Paris), but she's also saddled with some terrible development (as is everyone). Sometimes shows like this try to build mystery for the audience by keeping characters ambiguous which results in them being rather empty, which is what is happening here. I super hate Asher because he seems like a 12-year-old in an adult body. Nothing he says is remotely real, plus it's acted terribly. I was pretty annoyed with the finale for its casual knowledge of the priest and the confessional seal. It's pretty difficult to watch the priest try and defend not testifying about the confessional when he already broke the seal by telling Annalise. And for her to suborn perjury kind of goes against her being a great lawyer. Maybe i'm too spoiled by better law shoes that had driven attorneys that didn't flagrantly disregard the law. It wouldn't detract from the show to have her be a good lawyer within the bounds of the law. But god, everyone is a deplorable character. Frank. Bonnie. Rebecca. Asher. Connor. the other ones who aren't memorable enough to have a name. And Annalise's outrage in the final episode is kind of funny (we're not monsters!) given the stuff she's done. i watched it to see how the mystery unfolded, but i don't care enough about anyone to come back for season 2. It really makes me miss David Kelley law. It actually had sound foundations amidst the chaos. Unfortunately, he himself got away from it. |

RE: What Did You Watch Today?
So I thought House of Cards Season 3 was kind of a dud on the whole. A great season for Claire (Wright has a couple of terrific potential tapes, if Netflix bothers to send them this time), but beyond that, there was way, way too much Doug and most of the other supporting players, sans Dunbar, were pretty lackluster. Problem with this show seems to be everything is either boring or played absurdly over-the-top. The first season struck a nice balance between that, but these past two years have been a mess. And what an underwhelming ending to this one.

I'm up to episode 5, and I agree so far. I'm having a hard time getting into it. I like that Claire has more to do - she has always been the best part of the show for me - but my interest is waning a bit.

I'm just bored. I watch for Claire and I like Doug. Its doesn't help that the lead is my least favorite part of the series.

RE: What Did You Watch Today?
I'm watching this mostly because I really like Elizabeth Marvel, but damn is this show awful.

RE: What Did You Watch Today?
I'll admit I am a huge Madonna fan, so I may just be biased, but I really love her on the "Dolls & Dolls" episode of Will & Grace.

RE: What Did You Watch Today?
I was sick with the flu all week last week, and I have one major takeaway from my time at home. Bold pronouncement time: Enlightened was one of the greatest TV shows ever created.

RE: What Did You Watch Today?
Enlightened was so, so good. I hope more people find the chance to watch it because it deserved far more attention that it received.
