1.) I think he was closest with "1917," "Road to Perdition," and especially "American Beauty."

2.) I still cannot believe how iconic and usable the "Shawshank" score has become. Ditto "American Beauty." I think that "1917" losing to fucking "Joker" was...a joke.

I find it beyond confusing that he didn't win for both American Beauty and 1917 (regarding the latter, do NOT get me started on the fucking awful score he lost to).

Yes, it is the Holidays, so it is time to state something that I always do around this time for the past five years because I still...STILL...have no fucking idea how Julia Roberts was not nominated for "Ben Is Back" in 2018.

What happened that Tom Hanks fell out of favor with the Oscars? He of course won back-to-back awards and had 5 nods in a relatively short time frame, but then in the past 22 years he's only gotten 1 nod despite praised/award-winning performances in Captain Phillips, The Post, Sully, Saving Mr Banks, and News of the World. Favorites tend to get in for almost anything praised, so it seems odd he has been snubbed so much.
