50 songs/50 Years of Kander and Ebb
It's the 50th anniversary of the Kander/Ebb collaboration, so someone posted a top 50 songs list. Any thoughts
Biggest suprise: No "Cell Block Tango" Biggest disagreement: They chose the wrong songs from Kiss of the Spider Woman |

RE: 50 songs/50 Years of Kander and Ebb
I'm not overly familiar with Kander and Ebb's work, outside of their more popular productions (i.e., the ones that have been made into movies). But I do love "Maybe This Time". A wonderful, wonderful song. Although, I actually prefer Natasha Richardson's rendition, although I also love Sutton Foster's performance of the song in Bunheads (which is oddly not online, that I can find).

RE: 50 songs/50 Years of Kander and Ebb
"Chief Cook and Bottle Washer" from The Rink was the first thing that came to mind in terms of an all-time favorite Kander/Ebb song - it's also, for my money, probably among the 10 all-time best female solos from a Broadway show - so I'm glad it's pretty high up there.

RE: 50 songs/50 Years of Kander and Ebb
I wasn't really familiar with "Maybe This Time" until Chenoweth did it on Glee (had seen Cabaret years ago and forgot it I guess). It's just a classic, classic song. I love that the writer mentions how it can be viewed in different ways. While not a classic vocal, I love how it was used in Bates Motel as sung by Vera Farmiga:
