Little Fires Everywhere - Celeste Ng
It's a fine book, but it didn't live up to the hype for me. Things were explained a little too much, and while engrossing, it was pretty standard. I am wondering which characters Witherspoon and Washington are going to portray. |

"Sharp Objects" - Gillian Flynn
No. Just...no. Every plot point was completely predictable, and Flynn proclaiming herself as a feminist when she writes so misogynistically really turns my stomach. I hated all of these characters, aside from the editor and his wife. It was just really a very weak piece of writing. I understand it was her first novel, but I cannot read her books. |

A Visit From the Goon Squad
I know it won a slew of awards, but I'm halfway through and don't find it compelling at all. |

RE: Random books thread
Yeah, I finished it because I don't like not finishing books, but I thought it was wildly overrated.

RE: Random books thread
Anyone doing a reading challenge this year? I aimed for 24 last year and achieved it by the skin of my teeth because I was sick for large portions of the year (not Covid), this year I am upping to 30!

RE: Random books thread
^ I am not this year, though I do plan to keep reading (I am currently reading The Underground Railroad).
I did read over 20 books in 2021, with my favorites being: Homegoing (Yaa Gyasi) - re-read but it's so good White Ivy (Susie Yang) - really entertaining and interesting Me (Moth) (Amber McBride) - nicely written in verse and tells stories we don't see often The Joy Luck Club (Amy Tan) - I'd never read it, but I loved it |
