RE: Vintage Emmy thoughts
While all of those categories could use a more diverse group of winners, the Comedy ones are a real sham/shame.

So I decided to get into a Wikipedia deep dive and research how many non-whites have won in the each of the major acting categories (I'm not including Guest, Voice and Short-Form acting categories). For what it's worth, America Ferrera has also won Comedy Actress. |

RE: Vintage Emmy thoughts
I went into a Wikipedia rabbit hole again because Hwang Dong-hyuk's win made me think: How many women and people of color have won major Primetime Emmy awards directing Emmys (Drama, Comedy, Limited)?
Here's what I found out: Directing for a Drama Series: 4 women (Karen Arthur, Mimi Leder, Reed Morano and Jessica Hobbs) and 5 POC's (Thomas Carter (x2), Eric Laneuville, Paris Barclay (x2), Cary Joji Fukunaga and Hwang Dong-hyuk). Directing for a Comedy Series: 6 women (Betty Thomas, Gail Mancuso (x2), Joey Soloway (X2; identified as a woman at the time), Amy Sherman Palladino, Lucia Aniello, MJ Delaney) and 1 POC (Donald Glover) Directing for a Limited Series or Movie: 4 women (Dearbhla Walsh, Lisa Cholodenko, Susanne Bier, Maria Schrader), 2 POC's (Charles S. Dutton, Tony To) |
