RE: ATP/WTA 2?: Unchained Meldonium
So, totally random. But, I spend about 75% of my day watching CNN these days. And, this commercial has started playing a good bit. Every time it comes on, I'm not paying attention to the screen. So, I hear it first. And, about 12 seconds in, goddamn if I don't think it's Caroline Wozniacki every time.
I'm not crazy, right? Also, a few tennis quick hits! 1. MARION BARTOLI IS COMING BACK!!!!!!! She says she's going to play her first pro match in March, leading a lot of people to believe she'll ask for a wildcard into either Indian Wells or Miami. Which.... would be a disaster. She should take a note from.... 2. Belinda Bencic devoted herself to playing a handful of relatively large challenger events as her comeback from injury. And, lo and behold, she won three titles in a row and moved from outside the top 300 to #74, and is directly into Melbourne. Seriously? Why don't more players do this? Start low, rack up wins, get confidence, and keep chugging up the rankings. Starting with a 6-1, 6-0 first round loss on a big stage is just humiliating and counterproductive. 3. After trying to get the UK to let him play for them for NINE YEARS, Aljaz Bedene has decided to go back and play for his native Slovenia. Keep in mind, Bedene is currently the UK's #2 player behind Murray. So, essentially, their current #1 active player. 4. Stan, Raonic and Andy are all iffy for their first matches in 2018. Stan is said to not be "in match shape" and will probably withdraw from Abu Dhabi along with Raonic who is also recovering more slowly than he'd hoped. Andy's hip is still a big question mark. So, he'll likely withdraw from Brisbane, which would force him to start the Aussie Open having not played a match since losing the Wimbledon quarters. 5. Novak says he's all set to play Abu Dhabi. So... there's that. |
