RE: 2016 Grammys thread (held in 2017)
What she does to get her music out is her business. There are no guns to heads. Furthermore, it's like how I wrote the manual for how my department should run and my boss signed off on it and got authorship (is that a word?) of it. And heck, there could be small changes that make all the difference. Something as small as the very beginning of "Start Over".

If you are an unheralded writer needing money to survive, are you really going to risk not having your song sung? Your first example is way melodramatic.
The rest - her rules, whatever. |

They're not in surgery performing a heart operation. We're talking about lines line "middle fingers up...tell him boy, bye!". This is not that big of a deal if you work with Beyonce on a song and you offer it to her and there are rules in place. Go give it to one of the girls from GRL. Plus her process has changed recently anyway to her going into each of the rooms in the Hamptons and working through each song with those that are there.
For the record I think her involvement is much bigger than pre-4. I'm not that interested in your critique since you started Bey bashing two songs into the album without even listening to the rest, MV. Plus there are other benefits. Your song will probably net you money you haven't had and also get you exposure you probably need (or boost you again - Wynter Gordon). |

Also there's this assumption you're projecting that these songwriters feel hard done by.

Okay so Beyonce has a tonne of places to submit her tracks right? Album tracks can be submitted without being singles right?

^ Well, since you are obsessed I guess I will help you out some.
"Runnin" obviously couldn't be in both Pop and Dance. They'd surely go Dance since it would be easier to get in, and Naughty Boy is a DJ. I guess they could submit "Daddy Issues" to Country, but it isn't really all that country of a track. It would have to be approved by the nominating committee as Country, and then it would have to be voted in by voters of course. I can't see all of that happening, but I guess in theory it's possible. In terms of Producer, I am not sure how that works for someone who collaborates with different people on each track (i.e. I don't know the technicalities of that category). Music Video would have to be "Formation," no? It's the only stand alone video from the album (at least to this point). I would also assume something other than "Formation" will be submitted to Record and Song by the time the awards roll around as it isn't exactly Grammy-friendly, but we'll see if anything else is pushed as a traditional single. |
