RE: 2016 Grammys thread (held in 2017)
I only think "Formation" in ROTY/SOTY because of its impact so far unless "Freedom" is a breakout hit that people are anticipating over the summer. Agree about "Formation" in video.
Agree that "Runnin'" will probably stick with Dance and not get in. And I think if she is eligible in country, the voters won't be inclined to include her after that. Realistically I think a standalone nod in AOTY and no other General Field or Pop nods. The pop nods are kinda only reserved these days for big hits. Diplo played Ezra's version of "Hold Up" on Snapchat yesterday and it's weird. |

You can't submit tracks in Dance anymore unless you're album or EP or whatever is submitted in the Dance category. They chunked that rule out when only name artists were winning, remember? Or did I make that up?
Also, I hate the Beyhive. Like, for real. Beyonce's a helluva entertainer but the credit she gets is fucking ridiculous. Especially with the constant, proven fact that she's barely involved in the song writing process and it's ALWAYS overlooked. Her image is all her, but her music is not. |

They "Beyhive" is annoying, I agree. I'm always annoyed by those kinds of aggressive fandoms.

Runnin' isn't from Lemonade though, it's a Naughty Boy track meaning if it manages to get in, and it could because they have some real randoms in there sometimes, Arrow Benjamin and Beyonce would get in.
Also as I've mentioned before I think the vague songwriting was a fact back in the day but isn't the case these days. The lyrics to "Partition" she claims to be entirely hers. |

Also there are crazier and many fans that exist for Selena Gomez, Bieber, Ansel Elgort and Curtis Lepore all of whom have incredibly less significant of an output. So the Beyhive is more than okay with me and I'm happy to be a part of it since 2014.

It's not just the Beyhive. It's all of them. Seeing all that happened with "Becky with the good hair" was kinda embarrassing.

I can't remember if it's a submission issue, or if there is a panel now. |

Thinking which sappyrific song the songwriting branch will latch onto this time & it's ominous that it's going to be '7 Years' by Lukas Graham.
Daniel Powter's 'Bad Day' (which '7 Days' remarkably sound alike), Plain White T's 'Hey There Delilah', Sam Smith's 'Stay With Me', Ed Sheeran's 'Thinking Out Loud'...so many of the goddamn facehuggers over the years that get nominated and even win. Ugh. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grammy_Awa...f_the_Year |
