RE: Vintage Grammys thoughts
What was up with the 1980 Grammys where - if Wikipedia is correct - 8 songs were up for Song of the Year?!?!

RE: Vintage Grammys thoughts
I watched a Grammys special thing that aired and was reminded the year U2 won AOTY for The Joshua Tree was a great AOTY line-up. Prince, Michael Jackson, Dollay Parton/Linda Ronstadt/Emmylou Harris, and Whitney Houston were also all nominated. As much deserved flak as the Grammys have gotten, they still had some great years.

You know, it's funny. If you look at the AOTY winners and compare them to the best picture winners and guess where they end up, relatively speaking, on the critical scale, they aren't as far apart as you'd guess. |

RE: Vintage Grammys thoughts
I just noticed Bill Withers has won 2 R&B Song awards (and three overall) for songs where he was nominated for Pop Male in the same year for those songs.
