It may be from the perspective of Colonel Tom Parker but he's a lead through and through. As for the chances of him being nominated, I guess it all depends on how successful the film is and how the rest of the year shakes up. One thing's for sure though: He's definitely better than Rami Malek. |

RE: Oscars 2023
I'm really curious to see what happens with RRR at the Oscars. India would be absolutely remiss not to submit it for Foreign Film, but I'm not sure it's eligible in the other categories because it is technically a re-release. In any case, one of the most incredible, unhinged movies I've ever seen in my life.

He's good but there's definitely more Tom Hanks than it is Austin Butler. The story is told through Parker's perspective and it's basically about him and how he ushered Elvis through his career. I don't take issue with biopic mimicry as long as it works and this works. |

I agree with this to an extent, but I think some performances can be called because of the cultural impact it is making and how audiences are responding. I knew Will Smith was a lock to win way before I saw "King Richard," for example. I think Butler is in that realm of getting nodded at this point. I know the general public is not the Academy, but EVERYONE is talking about his performance. I will eat massive crow if I am wrong, but my NGNG for the entire season will be him winning starting with the televised shows. But GREAT point about "Rocketman." God, Egerton was so robbed that year! |

RE: Oscars 2023
"Good Luck to You, Leo Grande" will be eligible for the Oscars this year due to an appeal from Searchlight. It's the first film going up on the screener sight.
