RE: Precursor Awards (2022-2023)
I think Yeoh takes it for now. It is an amazing narrative. That being said, Blanchett getting #3 is very possible (McDormand just did it), but I am thinking more of a surprise winner coming from nowhere. Who knows??? I still think that Ana de Armas could get in.
I hate the gender-neutral category idea. |

Keke Palmer won NYFCC for Supporting Actress for Nope. Love to see her win anything, but never considered she'd be in Supporting for the film.

I think she is being campaigned as Supporting, though I agree with her being Lead.

RE: Precursor Awards (2022-2023)
"Top Gun: Maverick." Is this just nostalgia voting? It was not a BAD movie, but best of the year is a stretch. It is getting a lot of mentions in Picture.
I also think Actress is more and more become finalized with Blanchett, Davis, Deadwyler, Williams, and Yeoh., Man, "Empire of Light" really bombed and did not live up to that hype. |

RE: Precursor Awards (2022-2023)
Empire has some beautiful sequences but it's a mixed bag overall. I think the last Actress slot will be Davis vs. Robbie.
I'm fine with the BP nod for Top Gun, which was a great popcorn film, but the wins have me concerned. For a nod, though, let it happen so we can shut down all the stupid "Oscar films make no box office" articles. |
