Also, I am making my way through Empire and I'm enjoying it so far. It's fun and has a good cast. Taraji P. Henson is great. Plays the character perfectly. I also really love Jussie Smollett, and Terrence Howard is also a strong lead.

Although, it's weird because Henson and Howard both seem too young to be the parents of these kids.

Especially Henson. But she makes it work regardless.

She really does. And she and Smollett have such a great, natural chemistry as well. Those two work so well together.

Andre seems to be the odd man out so far. Neither parent seems to pay him much mind, and the show doesn't seem to know quite what to do with him.

Yeah, Andre has definitely gotten the shaft, though in the past 2 episodes they've given the character more.

By the way, Henson and Howard are in their mid-40s. I'm assuming the kids are supposed to be mid-20s? That would make sense. It's probably more that some of the kids were cast by actors too old.

True. The actors they cast are probably older than they're supposed to be, save for Hakeem. Andre definitely looks too old to be their kid. It's a little odd sometimes.

Empire is fun, but it's fast becoming a trainwreck. I think they need a new showrunner pronto or even Henson won't be able to make it watchable a year from now.

That's unfortunate to hear. The last episode I watched was "Out, Damned Spot" and I still think it's a lot of fun. But it is the type of show that I could see running out of stream quickly.

Catching up on last season's Shameless and it is a strong one so far. Emmy Rossum continues to give one of the best performances on television. She's so good, and so underrated. The entire cast/show is, really. William H. Macy was always my least favorite part of the show and he has a super gross storyline at the beginning of this season, but midway through it gets better, at least. And Macy is more interesting as a sober character than with all of those "zany" (horrible) stories.

I've started catching up on The Affair. I really like the dual perspectives, and it's used better than I anticipated (it's not always two tellings of the same story, but sometimes one perspective picks up where the other left off). I love that there are nuances to their perspectives, too; there is the filter of memories being hazy in general, of shaping memories to reflect what you want, and of these two perhaps portraying themselves how they want to be seen to an interrogator.

My only real issue at this point is the character of Oscar. Ugh. I hope he's the one who gets killed. Of course, it could just be about how Noah perceives him, so...
