RE: What Did You Watch Today?
I just finished The Affair. WTF was that last episode? The memories Noah and Alison have are so different it wasn't believable. They are in totally different locations with different people around them and different actions taking place. It makes sense for people to remember clothing a little different, to highlight certain quotes, etc. but their difference in memories were taken to an extreme. I hope this gets explained in season 2, because for now it left a poor taste. And, really, Noah is terrible. He stayed with Alison after a near shooting with his daughter and wife?
It's also hard to care about the murder since Scotty isn't much of a character. Joshua Jackson was great in the finale, though. I'm glad he's found interesting work post-Dawson's Creek because he was always my favorite on that show. I still need to watch Fringe. |

Mary Tyler Moore Show - "Phyllis Whips Inflation"
This might be my favorite episode of the series thus far. I didn't stop laughing. Leachman - like every member of the ensemble - was so perfectly cast. Also, there is a part in the episode where Phyllis says working on a budget is like making love with a straitjacket, and Mary responds, "Don't knock it til you try it" and has a devilish grin on her face. Wow. I can't believe they got away with that in the '70s. Ha! The one thing that's weird is Mary's romantic life. She has seemingly been dating that Andy guy she hired in season 4 as he pops up randomly to escort her to things, but then she also had an episode where she dates another guy. I guess she's just not committed? Anyway, season 5 might be my favorite in general so far. |

Speaking of, I loved he, Streep, and McAvoy together on there. |

The way Jamal came out on Empire was fantastic. A really well done scene. I hope that at least Henson and Smollett can garner some Emmy attention. I worry the show may be too "soapy", but it has been very good so far.

RE: What Did You Watch Today?
Glad to see you're still watching and enjoying The Mary Tyler Moore Show, MV. Have you already seen episodes like "Chuckles Bites the Dust" and "The Last Show", or will those be new to you?

RE: What Did You Watch Today?
Isn't it also mentioned in at least one episode that Mary is on the pill? That was very groundbreaking for the day. It's been a long time since I've seen the show - and I've never seen them chronically - but that is one thing I think I have seen cited in articles about ways in which the series was historic.
I can't wait till you see "Chuckles." Sing a little song, do a little dance. |

Other MTM shows I thought were really funny are where Mary befriends a prostitute who tries to become a fashion designer and where Mary and Lou go to Washington that has a cameo from Betty Ford.

Doesn't get much better than "The Lars Affair."

Also for MTM, the last line from the episode where Ted tries to tell jokes on the air is one of my all-time favorites.
