RE: Random Theatre Thoughts
The score to The Band's Visit is just lovely. I'm listening to "Omar Shariff" endlessly.

RE: Random Theatre Thoughts
I found myself watching YouTube videos of Nicole Scherzinger slaying Andrew Llyod Webber. I remember she got an Olivier nomination for Cats only because it was so random. He seems to genuinely adore her so I hope he's writing for her. She could spend her downtime chasing pop stardom being an award-winning theater actress.

RE: Random Theatre Thoughts
That is one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard. Wow.

RE: Random Theatre Thoughts
Legally, how does it work when you use a preexisting character from a published play as character in your original play? I read Bruce Norris didn't have any permission from the Hansberry estate before using Karl from A Raisin in the Sun in Clybourne Park.
So, I could use Belize as a character in a new 7 hr epic play and not be sued by Tony Kushner? |

RE: Random Theatre Thoughts
I don't think Kushner would sue you, but if you were to take a Mamet character, you'd be in court.

RE: Random Theatre Thoughts
I'm listening to Hadestown repeatedly. Wish Reeve Carney was nominated based on the cast recording.

Interesting interview with my former colleague about the re-opening of Broadway (nothing about Tonys, so don't go looking for that). TLDR: June 7th was announced as the date for which you could get automatically refunded (as in for any tix on or before then), not intended to be a barometer for re-open. They acknowledge September is the EARLIEST potential re-open, but even after cleared by public health policy, they need an additional 6 weeks to get up and running because nobody has been able to rehearse. Things being considered for re-open - temp taking at the entrances, masks for audience, changing of staging for actors so there's no kissing, etc. Orchestra pit, with really overt cramming of people into a small space, remains a huge concern. |

The filmed 2016 performance of Hamilton will stream on Disney+ July 3rd. Now, I definitely have to subscribe.
